D-I-Y tutorial: Crayon Shavings Wax Paper Hearts

Hello!  Ready for another tutorial?  I know I am!!!  This is a really cute Valentine for

Crayon Shavings Wax Paper Hearts.
[Valentines!!!!!!]
What you'll need:

  • a roll or two of Wax paper
  • old crayons you don't need
  • Scissors
  • Iron
  • Kraft paper or large paper bag
  • Cut out of a heart for tracing.  Cookie cutters work too.
  • Old {sharp!}knife or hand-held pencil sharpener.
Instructions:

Start out with your wax paper.  Just cut some out from the roll.  A pretty good size.  But it doesn't really matter.
Fold it in half lengthwise and open it again.  **NOTE: You will be shaving your crayons on the bottom half only.**

Choose a few colors of crayons.  No limit.  Just a few pretty colors, but not too dark.  Also, grab your knife or pencil sharpener.  (The original instructions recommended using a sharpener, but that didn't really work for me.)  And, make sure to use an older knife so that you don't ruin your good ones!

Take off the wrappers.

Start shaving the crayons.  Again, only put the shavings on the bottom half of the wax paper.  Be careful not to cut yourself, though.

Continue to shave different colors of crayons until you get a light scattering of crayon shavings as shown below.

Next, fold the top part of the wax paper over the bottom and fold the three sides in so you don't loose any of the shavings!!

Also, this looks like not enough crayon shavings, but when you melt it, it'll all go together :)

Yes.  Now it's time for the lovely iron.  Plug that baby in.

Grab a bag, and shove the wax paper/crayon shavings in there.  (I made mine a bit too long, so it sticks out a little!)

...and iron away!
I flipped it, and did the other side....

And... looky here!!!  I loove it :D

You now need to grab your pencil and heart template.

Trace the heart on your wax paper stuff, and cut it out.

You can write on it with a Sharpie, or do whatever you want.  (And yes, I do have a friend named Emma :D)

I am going to tape candy on the back and there's my wonderful Valentines tutorial!!

I can foresee you publishing your own DIY craft book someday. You have the written instructions for the extremely step by step individual and pictures for the people like me! Very well done! Most of all, I love that you gave your dog a valentine! You are so sentimental!
